The South Dallas Resource Center was formed in 2005 to meet the growing demand for clothing, hygiene products, household items, appliances, and furniture from low-income families in South Dallas. This is a sector where the majority of families are faced with periods of unemployment and other hardships and struggle on a daily basis. The median income for the typical family we serve is less than $13,000 a year.

The main objective of this program is to provide basic necessities for needy families who otherwise could not afford them.

In 2014, 8,909 families recieved clothing and household items.

To receive assistance, each family must meet certain qualifications. Clients must provide proof of income and residence as well as a social security card and birth certificate for each family member and must meet the current Texas Commodity Assistance Program (TEXCAP) income requirements.
